One can be a good parent without knowing the fundamentals of parenting. They go by their own values and instincts. They want to see smile on the faces of their children but not at the cost of harming the anything that the children should have or should do. Uneducated poor people sometimes uses force on the children and the excesses of the children stop. The same problem is tackled by sophisticated rich people differently by placating, by giving gratifications etc. Which is the better way? I don't know. But that way appears to be the best where the parents understand the need or motive of their children and take instinctive actions. That need time, involvements etc. If those things are there, no problem and no need of theory.

Most important is time spent with the children followed by love n communication. However, the importance of money n authority can not be completely over looked.

Absolutely .... In this mad and rat race most of us are real exhausted physically and mentally to spend quality time with our children. You can tell it as an excuse but we are satisfied giving them good food , good school , good tuition may be an week end outing may be an yearly trip to posh destination and we feel that we are performing great responsibility to our children.

But children takes us as a stranger , as a big star, may be as a hero , but as you told correctly , there is no emotional bonding . They are really hungry for that . We must spend some effective time , may not be teaching them , but satisfying their inquisitiveness , appreciate for their small achievements and most important is to make them feel , that they are our love , joy , happiness and emotions.

Moreover, we keep our children totally dependent on us , at least till XII and never allow them to be independent . How they will be able to take independent decision?? We never bother to know the aptitude of th ...more
