SHANTARAM.
by Gregory David Roberts.
It is a 2003 novel , in which a convicted Australian bank robber and heroin addict who escaped from Pentridge Prison, flees to India where he lives for 10 years in Bombay slums. The novel wonderfully portrays the tumultuous life in Bombay.
A film (by Mira Nair) also is being made based on this novel with Amitabh Bachchan (qadir Bhai), Aamir Khan and others in different roles.
