Q.

We say that Kashmir is the integral part of country. Then why we have Article 370 in our constitution which gives special status to this State? Are we not conceding that it is a disputed territory?

THOSE who cavil at Article 370 of the Indian Constitution and the "special status" of Kashmir constitutionally ought to remember the "special" treatment meted out to it politically. Which other State has been subjected to such debasement an d humiliation? And, why was this done? It was because New Delhi had second thoughts on Article 370. It could not be abrogated legally. It was reduced to a husk through political fraud and constitutional abuse. The current debate is much more than about restoration of Article 370 by erasing the distortions. It is about redressing a moral wrong. The United Front government's minimum programme, published on June 5, 1996, said respecting Article 370 of the Constitution as well as the wishes of the people, the problems of Jammu and Kashmir will be resolved through giving the people of that State t he maximum degree of autonomy

I genuinely believe that Indians themselves define India mostly in the pretext of another entity. Example?

Death to Pakistan! JAI HIND! Mera Bharat Mahan! When we invoke "JAI HIND" without mentioning death to an enemy or illegal immigrants, we say it only in a half spirited tone. In 1947 we had a case where we had an India created because the British left due to inability to sustain colonies rather than an India formed because we fought for a better future for ourselves and for our children.

U may say article 370 about giving special privilige to Kashmir, then what do u make of people like Annadurai who WANTED British colonization to continue? People like that were given "kingmaker" status in Indian politics.

U r point is absolutely rite, but I am alleging that the confusion happens primarly because we never defined India before creating a Republic of India in 1947.

WHAT is an Indian culturally? Tell me yaar.....(other than someone who has India passport)? What unifie ...more
