Osaka is the capital of Osaka Prefecture and the third-largest city in Japan, with a population of 2.7 million. It is located in the Kansai region of the main island of Honsh, at the mouth of the Yodo River on Osaka Bay.
Manchester is a city and metropolitan borough, in the metropolitan county of Greater Manchester, North West England. The City of Manchester has a population of 441,200, while the wider Greater Manchester Urban Area has a population of 2,240,230, making it England's third largest conurbation after Greater London and the West Midlands.
Manchester is historically notable for being the world's first industrialised city and for the subsequent central role it played during the Industrial Revolution.
Similarly Osaka also rapidly grew industrially and earned the name Manchester of Japan.
