RIL operates in Oil & Gas (read energy)space and has huge EPC division whearas LNT is EPC and large construction play. RIL is in textiles also which is downward integration of Oil & Gas business. So two has somthing in common.

RIL is competitor on account of POLy Yarm business. L&T was competitor on Cement business. Now L&T cement business is with Ultatech Cement, a Grasim Group Co.
