I appreciate the Government of Gujarat for having made voting compulsory for everyone eligible to vote. Those who do not like any of the candidate, can cast negative vote. This will definitely help our democracy and I will be very happy if more and more states follow the example set by Gujarat. Politics aside, this is a positive step taken by Gujarat and all right thinking persons should appreciate it. Congress perhaps is polticially jealous that a state ruled by BJP achieved a first. Let Congress advise all the states ruled by it to follow suit. Just calling it a gimmick does not matter in any way. People of India are watching and I am sure most of the Indians will appreciate the decision of Gujarat.

Imagine the next scenario now. You are out of station for your exam, your brother is sick on the day of election, there is marriage in your family, the old man of the family is not ambulant due to severe paresis and so on... All of us will be trying to defend our abscence from voting by obtaining proper certificates from Doctors, Examiners, Marriage Invitation Cards and the Honest Beaurocrats will be accepting everything plainly without harrassing anyone of us. No one will threat you in the name of Penal Provisions of Election Rules and all of us would live happily hereafter. We would find all the candidates to be useless and cast our negative vote in most of the constituencies with the given standard of candidates seen now which will call for a second notification for election, nomination, voting and so on without any added burden on the exchequer. A very good decision in deed, what if taken in a little hurry to outsmart the thinking people of this country.

It is gimmick and nothing but gimmick.
Mr. Modi wants publicity and from the beginning he goes to extra length for the same.
If negative vote is also allowed, what is the point in making it compulsory ? After all this will burden counting process and simply delay the declaration of result.
Gaurav Bhai, if you are not a blind supporter of this Gujrati hero, just answer one question, how can you force to make one go against his legitimate will in democracy ? Is it not fascism !!
