The contribution of Nothern states specaiily Punjab,Rajasthan,Delhi,Haryana and even Eastern states like Assam and West Bengal who are rich in resources like petrolium products and rice etc cannot be undermined.Chidmabram's remarks are not at all appreciable and rather an insult to the people of North and east states. Many a time he has given stupid remarks and sI feel he should be impeached for his bad and irresponsible remarks.

He is concentrating on T N elections and just to give a lip service, he has said this, if this statement had come from BJP or MODI much hue and cry would have been raised. It is not befitting a Home minister of India No doubt

Sir North India from Western UP to Himachal and Uttarachal is superbly developed.
East and South UP is not so wel developed.
in the east Bihar has taken off
In North East - Nagaland , Sikkim, Meghalaya are quite well developed.
Assam , Tripura etc have problems but that is due to corruption.
So his remark is short sighted 4 sure.

Home Minister P Chidambaram on Friday "denounced" diplomatic cables released by WikiLeaks after he came under attack in Parliament over his reported comments in one of them that India would have made more progress if it had only Southern and Western parts.

"Don't dignify the cables...but if you want me to comment, I denounce the cables," Chidambaram told reporters outside Parliament house.
