The 2014 FIFA World Cup will be the 20th FIFA World Cup, and will be held in Brazil.[1] It was scheduled to take place in South America and Brazil was selected to host the competition on 30 October 2007 as the only country to put in a bid.

This will be the second time Brazil hosts the competition; the country also hosted the 1950 FIFA World Cup. It will also be the first World Cup to be held in South America since Argentina 1978. No other South American country has hosted the World Cup more than once.

Brazil will become the fifth nation to host the FIFA World Cup twice, after Mexico, Italy, France and Germany. The Estdio do Maracan in Rio de Janeiro will most probably become the second stadium after the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City to host two Football World Cup Finals.
