A non-resident Indian (NRI) is an Indian citizen who has migrated to another country, a person of Indian origin who is born outside India, or a person of Indian origin who resides outside India. Other terms with the same meaning are overseas Indian and Non Resident Expatriate (NRE)

NRI refers to "Non-Resident Indian"

NRE refers to Non-Resident [External]. This is a type of a bank account that NRI can maintain with Banks in India and enjoy the facility of repatriation of funds freely and income tax benefits.
