The biggest airport in the world is the King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It takes up some 81 square miles - an area larger than many cities.

1. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Atlanta, Georgia, United States

Largest number of passengers annually. (19982008) Over 17% busier than the world's second busiest airport by passenger volume, and this gap is growing.
Most arrivals and departures ("operations") annually. (19992000, 20052007). In 2007, Hartsfield again set the world's record for most aircraft movements in one year with 994,346.
Most destinations served.

2. Memphis International Airport, Memphis, Tennessee, United States
Most cargo traffic by volume annually. (19932006)
