Result of General Election has proved to be a disaster for BJP and more particularly for Mr. L K Advani whose aspiration for becoming PM of the country could not be fulfilled. Undoubtedly it is Mr. Advani whose effort took BJP to such a height and it is also a true that due to his effort only Mr. Vajpayee could become PM for three terms. What I have found is that there is not much fall from the past record of BJP. But there is still sharp fall from the projected or expected level of BJP and even its rivals. Expected gain over past results did not come about despite hectic tour made by Narendra Modi and Mr. L K Advani.. BJP lost some seat even in Gujarat, Rajasthan. Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi which is more painful and very much disheartening for BJP. It is also a fact that its grip in many states have gone up. New states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam and Karnataka have now been added to BJPs stronghold areas. Performance of BJP in UP is also not bad compared to past record. No individ ...more

Advani could not prove himself even a good Home Minister during the NDA regime as the relealse of the terrorists in exchange for the air passangers showed. And he had the temerity to say that he was not taken into confidence and in fact was unaware of this decision of the Cabinet. This exposes how very weak he would have proved as a PM.(and he was calling Singh a weak PM. Singh\'s weakness emanagtes from the resistence to the premiership of Sonia Gandhi, most eloquently by the BJP ) Eyewitnesses at the Babri Mosque demolition vouchsafe that Advani who was present there was pained by what the mauauder were doing. He was plaintively asking them to come down after doing symbolic destruction. Again Advani did show some initiativge when he spoke in reconciling tones about Jinnah at Karachi during his visit to Pakistan as a Minister. But when the RSS raised its eyebrows he ate his words. He perhaps had in him to reconcile India Pakistan but he was too weak and would not have made ...more

Loksabha electoral win in Gujurat and in Karnataka, also 3.5 lacs win of varun g frm. peeleebheet BJP must ponder as to where its strength and weakness lies. As a party which started its fledgling years as a political arm to RSS; when it was dependent on RSS and its Parivar for organizing and conducting grass root level politics, it has now grown into a formidable opposition party and proved that it can provide an alternative to Congress. What is clear is that if BJP has to come back to power and maintain its 'Party with difference' -slogan it must nurture leaders like Narendra Modi and Yeddiyurappa, Also the young leaders of ABVP who have regional presence but have national vision, in long run. The problem with BJP is that they don't encourage competent individuals to come above the collective organizational leadership and prove their calibre. but in this aspect they are alike to their ideological rivals - Communists. But they need to understand from the Gujarat election and Karnataka ...more
