Friendship between males and females depcted in cinema are always some what fake. What you mention are films with some western influence. Down south you can even now see films depicting friendship. There is a hit film \"Kadalar Desam\" in Tamil where in the climax the friends and the girl they love throw away the love present in their relationship for the sake of friendship. In bollywood the quality of films are on a low ebb.

Brokeback Mountain is set against the sweeping vistas of Alberta\'s Rocky Mountains. This film tells the story of two young men - a ranch-hand and a rodeo cowboy - who meet in the summer of 1963 and unexpectedly forge a lifelong connection, one whose complications, joys and tragedies provide a testament to the endurance and power of love....
unlike BB,sholay dealt with male bonding,in a real buddy buddy way...it did not harbour on homosexuality but dealt with two partners in petty crimes, who were naturally well-bonded and shared amazing rapport...
Dostana old,was bonding gone sour...til it resurfaces, with unmatched intensity...
Dostana new,has two men thrown circumstantially together, with pretense of homosexuality,a need they are forced to carry out in the name alone...here too, after the twists and turns the bonding survives with aplomb....
Hollywood can do it,most certainly, with amazing ease and newness I am sure,Bollywood ,if gets over its re-hashings,just might spring a surprise, ...more
