1.
Willingdon Island is an artificial man made island in Kochi named after Lord Willingdon the former Madras Governor. It is linked to the mainland by a bridge. it is the main port of Cochin, the shipyard handling all the cargo ships and freight. The Navy headquarters are also on the island. The airport was also there until the modern Cochin airport was built. There are a few hotels there, like Casino Hotel but Fort Kochi or Ernakulum is more attractive for hotel accommodation.
