Sympathies can be tolerated after the fiasco gets over but while am in it, the one extending it will regret it for sure, such is the extent of my irritation with sympathies coming on the spot ..often genuine concern too gets snapped, but the one really concerned would understand my state of mind, and those expecting to derive sadistic pleasure at my expense will be served right..!
while it coming from strange quarters or strangers is unquestionably appreciated and accepted as those are too distant for any effect..

Cannot think of any situation where sympathy has helped me or have i preferred to like Soumyen. May it be when i lost my near ones, or when i suffered life threatening illness or even when i just missed some rank in my academic career, some major concerns. Sympathy shown didnt reduce my agony. I am sure you identify the subtle difference between showing sympathy and conveying that You Care. And when its the latter, which is what i prefer to gather much from it to recover.

Yes , many time wen i feel low ...when caught up in difficulties
a passionate patting on back or warm hug and few words of assurance effect a lot .
