Ashoka and Chandragupta Mauriya ruled India and they were dictators. If the dictator is broad minded and appreciates cultural anthropology, then yes, a dictator can indeed rule a diverse nation.

WHATEVER you say about the Chinese, they run an autocratic system, run it quite well- are world powers, are on UN LISTED top 20 against poverty fight (we r in bottom 20), and are classified now as a second world nation. The CHinese are as diverse as the Indians!

No , Indian people with variety of culture geography ,and languages are very difficult to control and manage by a dictator any more , even the Britishers had to quit our country ,because they could not be contained conveniently to subjugate any more . Having trained to political ways and incorrigible dimensional behavior ,no dictator could handle them ,if at all any such personality takes up the mantle of governance ,he is sure to go mad .
