Indias first Prime Minister, Shri Jawahar Lal Nehru had called Pune The Oxford of the East." This probably explains what Pune has to offer in terms of education. In fact, Pune attracts students from all over the world. Primary education begins in schools, which are either run by the PMC or privately by trusts and individuals.
