I get Rs. 1000/- as Education allowance P.M. Is it exemeted from Income tax.

Yes. Education Allowance is exempt but only upto the extent of amount actually spent (Source: Para 13.3 of 30th edition of Singhania's Direct Taxes Ready Reckoner.
So you should build up records with receipts and bills for spending the amount towards education
