Gouffre de la Pierre St. Martin is the world's deepest cave. It is situated at the border of France and Spain. This cave measures about one mile 1.6 kilometers in depth. The scientific study of caves is speleology and scientists who study the organisms that live in them are called speleologists. The hobby of exploring and mapping caves is 'spelunking'.
