Non Resident (External) or NRE accounts are accounts of those persons who are living and earning abroad, the credits into the account has to come from abroad. the NRO or Non resident (Ordinary) accounts are those accounts opened to credit the local incomes like rent, etc. of those who are abroad. The interest earned on the NRO accounts is taxable where as the interest on NRE accounts are not taxable
