Junior docs are those who just got capped (after finishing basic med) as a doctor, but is not yet specialized. So the normal practice is for a junior doc to work in a PHC or in a missionary clinic or under an experienced doctor till he gets some experience under his belt whereupon he (or she) specializes (cardiology, neurology, pediatrics etc).

They are on strike because they are expecting a hike in payment from 13,000 to 25,000 per month. Well, I dunno what govt SHOULD do, but if I was India's dictator (I won't settle for a democratic PM post lol) I would order those doctors run over by an ARjun MBT (main battle tank) and have it filmed on national TV for the public to see. Then I would refuse them burial services and allow vultures to help themselves....or I would just have them shot & have their organs harvested for the benefit of poor ppl who need....

The junior doc's strike is most unwarranted and is nothing but wonton capitalism. 13,000 Rupees per month is a LOT of money ...more

@ A moin, although this post is old still i want to clear, junior doctors means junior resident who have 1 year internship experience who have compleated 6 year M.B.B.S degree, no body can compare them with alternative medcine degree or any other.

secondly,Don't say anything rubbish if you does n't have any idea about that.

In INdia Medical field is very competitive, medical entrance in india is the world's most difficult entrance, to become a Doctor u need to spend atleast 15 years of your life so think before u speak

as far as salary is concern you can compare MBA, Engineer & CA salary with that of Doctors, U can Find that doctors are underpaid. but there field is 50 times more difficult than them
