For me the real heroes were the policemen of Mumbai police who charged & fought the terrorists to stop them from a complete rampage of the city & its innocent people even with just a stick in their hands alongwith Hemant karkare who with his colleagues charged them knowing it very well that they are ill equipped to fight the terrorists possessing highly automated weapons also Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan who openly challeged the terroists to make them come out from their comfort zones..its the people such as these who sacrificed their lives for us are the true soldiers & heroes of our nation..may god rest their souls in peace!!

I consider the three ATS officers, who accompanied Hemant Karkare as the real Heroes. They were first to reach the site where trouble was brewing. They could have gone and sat in the control room like Rakesh Maria, to direct the operation and then to take credit for it. Instead they chose to be in the battle ground, donned defective bullet proof jackets, though they might have know that would hardly protect them, and set out to fight the terrorists. For their bravery they paid dearly with their life. Sadly, people of their own department said they died without putting up a fight though they themselves had killed one of the terrorist.

You can't just identify one or two or group. Many of them really: the NSG, the Mumbai police, the staff within the hotel, the families too. Surely neither the media nor the chatterers nor the politicians. Who are not can truly be identified I guess
