Hey Sumi! I hope Arundhati Roy and Medha Patekars are listening you :))

Well, in the world of duality, noting is partiality actually.See the no. of women taking it as an occasions to celebrate, if it's really partiality then why the weaker sex is so happy about it? Celebration of women's day is a good move to me because it reflect on the accomplishments and advancements made to women's rights around the world. For centuries women took a back seat in all social and political issues, forbidden to work, vote, and receive an education. Yet they fought these injustices and won. Doing so, they proved that they are truly equal.. in fact in many cases superior to men.So it's not wrong to remember all those things marking this special day.How we treat this day is up to you and me and the government. We can either make it like any other special day by paying tributes to the feminists or by thinking about how to move forward - there's never time for a day off when there's social justice to the ...more

I wish to copy paste my answer to Tushar Kher's almost a similar question:

"Celebrating this day and that day has become a fad and it would be interesting to find out who initiates these activities. Nothing but a money making idea most probably by flower and card sellers. I attach absolutely no value to these 'days' . I would rather that all these 'days' are put together and celebrated as 'ONE BIG HAPPY DAY' !! "

Womens day is just reminder to the world the power and strength of an women. it is an small gesture from the world to except and appriciate the ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,love, affectoion, courage and inner strength women's of the country has and sacrifices they do to support their family and their men.,,,,,,,,,I THINK,,Country like India witnesses many decades, many strata of conditions for women at the same time. We should take IWD in a positive way to educate, motivate, organize & agitate all the womanhood for their rights. Rights for women means Rights for all. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,;[][[ [[[[[[[[[[[I I realy don't know much about Women's Day & really can't comment much whether It should be celebrated on not. The only fact is that such event occur & give us a turn to look back once as what we did in the past time for the benfit of our Women, our country ; where we are lacking & how can me do something good.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it is like we pray to God everyday but on special days like festivals...we do something extra and celebrate God and HIS benevolence.....so similarly, we women need to take the womens day as an acknowledgement of the greatness of womanhood ... :)

Why should it be limited one day beti :) All days should be their day. :) Even we have change the months womanary, womafeb, womanmarch etc and womansunday, woman monday etc. Even we should change the numerical system to woman one , woman 2 , woman 3 like that. Everywhere there should be woman and woman. No man should be there to compitate. hahahahahahhahaha.

Yesterday i answer to similar question dat i copy paste here.
Just by celebrating a particular day will not do anything in empowerment of women. For that the mentality of a society needs to be change. Just have a glance on newspaper, you will find atleast one news of rape, murder n dowry death & the percentage is day by day increasing even, now, when she is financially independent. She has always been struggling for survival n her struggle starts in mother's womb itself. Today also many parents think that they should have boy as a child to take care of them in old age & they spend more for their son's education ...We have to ask ourselves are we ready to provide our gals all d basic facilities and education that they not only deserved but also it is their right ? Even in case of divorce, society and in-laws hold responsible to women only, giving excuses like she hve no etiquetts, their son worth a millions, she has no sense of cooking blah blah! Though there are many organisations wh ...more
