Afzal Usmani, an Indian Mujahideen operative accused in the 2008 Ahmedabad bombings, on Friday escaped from a special MCOCA court in the pretext of going to toilet! Have we not heard this before may be for some millionth time many convicts use this pretext for escape, My question is has he been allowed to escape?

The surprising aspect is that this is the second time he has given police the slip. In the first instance he jumped bail, visited Pakistan on a fake passport (where were airport security and checks, who insult handicapped people to remove their prosthetic legs even?). He then created havoc, set up terror modules and indulged in terror activities. Such a dangerous terrorist should have been heavily guarded. The Police personnel should have accompanied him even to the toilet. His escape only shows that the Indian police personnel are neither trained properly to deal with terrorists nor prevent terror attacks. So much so that after indulging in a terror attack in one place, the terrorists easily migrate to another state and even there successfully indulges in another terror attacks. Red Alerts or circulation of photographs of dangerous terrorists in public places or even through electronic media is a procedure that the police dont use.
