How will you feel if 5000 shares you sold at par (Rs 10 face value) five years ago are quoted today at Rs 500 per share?

This is something that many people holding stocks are afflicted with. Within the trading community, one always hears about such things as to how much they would have been worth today had their hung on to the same stocks without bothering about its price swings. It is a simple dictum in the market that, what is sold is sold and there is no use regretting over what one did at a particular time. It is not just about one particular stock that one bought at par at 10 Rs. and seeing it going down to a low level and selling it at par the buy price out of relief at seeing it reach that level and running out of patience.
As the years progress by, some sectors take importance and are the market fancy during that time. Such times, one would see these stocks flaring up. To quote two examples. Infy was quoting around 95 - 100 Rs in 1991. An investment of Rs. 10000 at that time would have given you 100 shares.
