Q.

How big was the impact of Srija (Chiranjeevis daughter) getting MARRIED on LIVE TELEVISION wearing JEANS with a SAREE DRAPED over it? Do you think it was correct? What other avenues were available to her to get her point across? What about the scores of other Srijas who dont get a chance to go on Tele?

Each has his or her own way of doing things. Since she is the daughter of a Megastar in telugu film industry, publicity is inevitable and there are obviously a lot of well wishers behind her.

While in the eyes of law every one is supposed to be equal, reality is that there are people more equal than others.

This sort of attire reflects her utter confusion about what she did against her father's wish. After she decided to wear Jean she must have realized that she has to cover her head too, so she decided to drap a sari. Moreover, Sari or any other feminine attire does come with a history, a history of burden and stereotyping more than anything else. While she was trying to break from her culture and tradition she still wanted somehow to remain attached to it.

Not much is known about this revolt. What led them to 'run away'? Why did she not consult her parents. Did she want to be noticed? Sensationalise her life? What else? She is still in college and so is her life partner. All these questions need to be answered before commenting on this rather irresponsible act. I do not think this sort of behaviour should be encouraged.

Had it been any other ordinary couple getting married this way, TV channels would not have projected it and U would not have had a chance to ask this Qn. Let them do what they want.

It was just a PUBLICITY stunt - Srija knew that the MEDIA WOULD FOCUS on her as she was some celebrity's daughter. Media does not follow the other class people, even though there are many cases and go unreported too.......

It was a totally irresponsible & immature act...however this kind of elopement happens all the time and had this girl not been chiranjeev's daughter...media wouldnt hv paid any attention to it....media too acted irresponsibly....all tv channels tried to cash in on the event. by showing the clippings of what was a personal crisis for chiranjeev & his daughter...

we live in a hypocritical society...while chiranjeev's movies may extoll love marriages...he personally is not so liberal...his older daughter's marriage was also held after lot of controversies...and perhaps that prompted the girl to go public

This is an unfortunate family issue. Let us not discuss about it. It would be preferable if we could pray that there is peace in the family...more
