He is the handy SCUD that Congress has great utility. With his no holds barred comments on any subject under the earth and about any person who happens to cross the party path, he keeps the subject on the hot boil till the party's adversaries get tired of the tirade from him or shifts to the next topic. I don't think, he was really ever silent for that long. It is all a Congress ploy, where he is used as the 'Counter Strategist' and where he goes over the top, the party either maintains silence or says 'it must be his private views' knowing very well that, DIgivijay doesn't keep such private views for himself other than to further his repeated attempts to ingratiate himself. If you look at, after two stints as a CM, he would have ordinarily been given a top Govt post which hasn't materialised for the past eight years. Some where, something went wrong and he has to keep trying so that his chances doesn't run out (he is going to be sixty six) because the next election is his chance to ge ...more

The silence was mainly due to the reason that he had run out of gas with all those hilarious anecdotes. During his hibernation period he was trying to make up a fresh and even more hilarious anecdotes. One thing I really admire about this guy is that he has got a wild imagination and I feel if uses this to write a book he may as well end up winning the Man Booker price.

Yes, it must be the Gujarat election which would have compelled Congress to remove the gag from Digi's mouth. Now he is back in action. Congress needs someone like Digi to protect itself from Modi's verbal attack. This time it looks like Digi is in good form. He deserves a pat for his comment of Gadkari by calling him - Slum dog Millionaire.

It is now clear that being obnoxiously vociferous seems to give him a high. He needs this fix on regular basis just as a junkie needs his regular fix of mind alteration substances.
But I have my sympathies for the poor guy. It could happen to the best of us. Imagine wandering around in political wilderness for so long, looking for a master who will give him shelter, food and an occasional pat on the back.
