Those convicted of any crimes should be debarred from contesting any elections. Just allegations of corruption are not enough - unless some court convicts a person, such person is not a criminal.
Rules for eligibility to contest the elections should accordingly be revised so that Election Commission can act on it.

Is it not a shame that largest democracy of the World has 1/3 of MPs and MLAs with criminal record?

Those convicted should be disqualified from contesting any elections.

Rules for eligibility to contest the elections are loaded with political implications and so rules are not revised for Election Commission to act on it. It needs crusaders like Anna Hazare to open the secrets of autocratic rulers.

They are liked by political parties for vote collection through force. Unless we change to dictatorship, this is not going to stop. Let someone takeover. He will kill all these.

That's why movement of Ann Ji need to spread out all over India. Indeed, they are not only elected but also they are framing the Law/Rules becoming Hon'ble Legislatures. If we can strengthen the hands of people like Mr. Anna, only then we can throw them out. Otherwise, money, muscle and even the power of Police etc. would simply help them to be elected even sitting within the custody. But the movement of people like Anna Ji and their own character and way of living etc. should also required to be transparent. Thanks.

They get elected by utilising their muscle & money power.
we must fix minimum qualification levels for mlas, mps & ministers. Their police records must be checked .

If one or two it is OK we can make them out but seems every one one way or the others.
It is in our hand to elect them or not, these persons are playing with money , liquor, and muscle power
