The issues raised are so serious that these can no longer be ignored. Now, let him stop harassing the government and do his job for the remaining days of his service.

1) The political establishment and the bureaucracy never treated anybody with respect and dignity whether it is the Armed Forces, Judiciary or the common man. The Indian government in the past as well as the current one have always ill-treated the serving Jawans. Probably, you may still remember the controversy as far as the pay commission recommendation to the armed forces were concerned a few years back when a lot of highly decorated and distinguished Armed Forces officers returned their medals and gallantry awards in protest. In the backdrop of the above, I have no reason to take sides with the establishment of the politicians and babus who vitiate the atmosphere. The Supreme Court of India also recently gave the same opinion on the working style of the GOI while delivering its judgment on the Gen. VK Singhs age case.
2) Moreover, how can you trust this government when it tried its best and succeeded in defeating the mass movement of Anna Hazare team to bring about some sanity to ...more

It is not as if the position of Army Chief dropped from the skies....
he had risen up the ranks and been selected as THE ONE....
that he has kept mum all these years and now suddenly....
he is awakened by his concience....
that confidential information between the army chief and bureaucracy...
are totally sacrosanct and can put the defense of the country in jeopardy...
knowing this ... he arranged the leakage of confidential information...
which is treachorous and beyond redemption...and if any action taken on the basis of his misdemeanours is termed as harassment...then we can only bow down and postrate ourselves...
before treachery.
There is no doubt that the Govt. needs to address the issues raised...but any laxity in taking action
against such irresponsible and self highlighting behaviour can only set bad precedents to follow !!

He had come in with a declared intention of rooting out corruption from the army. But the villains won against him. Now he realizes that hardly any time is left for him to do anything against them. So these are his last desperate efforts before he goes down fighting like a true soldier.
whether government should stop harassing him and instead look into the issues raised by him? This brings up another question. So far, was the government really ignorant of all this hanky panky dealings which the general has been bringing to its notice? Obviously, no. So how can we expect it to follow up into the issues raised by him?

It also seems that all the issues raised by him now are a result of his losing the age row case in the Supreme Court and he should also be questioned why he kept quiet for so long and started raising the issues now only.

In my view let the general die his own death. Goverment should't underestimate him. By all means he deserves to be treated with respect and dignity by the goverment. ITS IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND WHAT IS BEING SAID ONLY and not who is saying and when it is being said.... take his words as words of a responsible person.

It is reported that the General is a straight forward and honest man. But I am unable to understand all these controversies surfacing only after he lost the Date of Birth issue with the Government & the Court. And we are not hearing about corruption is defence procurement for the first time.

I would have certainly appreciated if the General had brought out all that he is saying now, before he took on the Government on the age issue. His credibility would have increased many fold then.

But now, the popular perception gaining ground is that he is trying to settle scores with the Government.

It is really a sorry state of affairs - what is happening now.

Very much. Frustrated mind or not, issues remain as facts. If they are facts, issues are to be addressed. Instead of working for correcting the anomalies, unnecessarily diverting the public attention about "letter leaking" matter. Now letter leaking is not important, contents of letter is important.
