Because of impact of cyclone : While the super cyclone Sandy got the attention of the entire world, Nilam, which hit the Indian East coast, could not attain stardom. But in terms of impact, Sandy and Nilam were almost equal. Nilams after-effect has reached even the Western Coast and affected cities like Mangalore Udupi, Bhatkal, Panaji, Rathnagiri, Pune, Akola and Aurangabad in Maharashtra. All these areas got rains in the last 24 to 36 hours and were likely to retain the same weather for next 48 hours.
It was clearly an after-effect of the Nilam cyclone, the Cycir (Cyclonic Circulation) is spread over five states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, parts of Kerala and Maharashtra and surely is one of the biggest Cycirs in the recent years in terms of size and coverage
