Q.

A media channel reported that many top Marxist leaders who came to attend a state meeting are staying in star hotels. Looks strange indeed-----dont you think so? Will the soul of Marx forgive them for this? Your views?

The present CPI (Marxist) is being run like a big corporation. The leaders at the top national level and even the state level leaders are enjoying all the material comforts just like any bourgeoisie leader. They travel by air ( they dont have time to waste on a travel by rail), get accommodation in air conditioned rooms with TV etc, have a penchant for the tasty , expensive foods. In the era when communism was just taking roots on the Indian soil, a party member was not allowed to take alcoholic drinks and those violating this strict norm were never allowed to continue as a party member. What about the present leaders? Most of them take drinks in the privacy of their homes. Can you ever spot a state level leader travelling by bus? He will travel by an air conditioned luxury car.
Speaking all he time for the poor, downtrodden, toiling masses, coming to power with their votes and then live like a very rich man is something which an ordinary party sympathiser can ...more

According to me - this is more a norm than an exception - not only in respect of Marxist Leaders, but all Leaders in general.

It is actually the cadres who bear the brunt of any inconveniences in any movement.
