Yes ....one has to forget past mistakes , faults or else some blunders to keep a clear conscious.
It is well known that no one is perfect to keep a clear conscience.
So Mark Twain's quote is right.

Not necessarily. I think combination of having clear conscience and bad memory is a person who's Narcissistic. That or the memory is too sad and severe that brain shifted to forgetting it.
