Cricket has led to the loss of sports fervor in general. People are so caught up in cricket fever that they do not care much for other kind of sports. It is clear that other forms of sports have been given step motherly treatment. The government, the media and private sponsor should encourage other form of sports too, so that they are given their due share of limelight.

Cricket has been the biggest destroyer of all other sports, which Indians would have been better in it, and it does show by our very poor performance in the last Olympics. So I can proudly say, Cricket has been the curse for India.

So many people are making so much money from cricket, right from the cricketers to the groundsmen to the journalists who report on it and the list goes on. It can be called an industry. It is a profit making industry so why should it be a curse for the country.
As far as other sports it is the fault of the boards which run them. They should also follow the BCCI in the manner in which it made cricket so popular in India. So instead of being jealous of the cricketers and passing nasty remarks at them, they should learn something from the cricketers.

It is infact a symptom of a disease... The disease is laziness and lethargy which, the people of South Asian descent are suffering from. People of India, Pak, SriLanka etc. don't want to do anything and are genetically engineered by nature to be sleep loving, easy going and sentimental.... This inbuilt nature manifests itself in several forms such as strikes, bandhs, hartals, delay in getting things done, red tapism and CRICKET..... It is a fancy to imagine a whole family wasting the whole Sunday, in front of TV watching a dozen stupid looking bufoons.... When you have the option of Tennis, Basketball, Football, crazy South Asians prefer cricket as they don't prefer to have a short 2-3 hr. entertainment rather a whole day of lethargic dysphexia/madness in the name of entertainment....
